Terms of Service

The conditions that govern your use of the RedFlag Security website and services.

Last updated: March 31, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the website operated by RedFlag Security ("RedFlag Security," "we," "our," or "us") and your engagement of our security products and services, including CCTV, alarm systems, access control, intercom systems, video doorbells, and structured wiring in Ottawa and surrounding areas.

By accessing or using our website, submitting a form, requesting a quote, or engaging our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, you should not use our website or services.

1. Who We Are

RedFlag Security is a locally owned and operated security company based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. We provide professional design, installation, service, and support for security and low-voltage systems for residential and commercial clients.

2. Use of Our Website

You agree to use our website only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of, restrict, or inhibit anyone else's use and enjoyment of the website. You agree not to:

  • Engage in any conduct that is unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the website, server, or related systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the security or performance of the website
  • Use the website to transmit unsolicited or unauthorized advertising (spam)

3. Quotes, Proposals, and Service Agreements

Any quote, estimate, or proposal we provide is based on the information available at the time and is subject to change if the scope, conditions, or requirements change. A quote or proposal is not a binding contract until it is accepted by you and confirmed by us, which may be in writing, by email, or through a signed agreement or work order.

Specific terms, including pricing, scope of work, equipment specifications, warranty details, and payment terms, may be set out in a separate agreement or work order. In the event of any conflict between these Terms and a signed service agreement, the signed agreement will generally prevail with respect to the specific services described in that document.

4. Client Responsibilities

As a client, you are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate and complete information about your property and security needs
  • Obtaining any necessary permissions from landlords, condominium boards, or other property stakeholders
  • Ensuring reasonable access to the property for site visits, installation, maintenance, and service
  • Complying with any applicable laws or regulations related to the use of cameras, recording, or monitoring equipment
  • Using the installed systems in a responsible and lawful manner

5. Payment Terms

Payment terms will be outlined in your quote, invoice, or service agreement. We may require a deposit before scheduling work and full payment upon completion of installation or service, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

We use trusted third-party payment processors to handle credit card and other electronic payment transactions. When you click a payment link or are directed to make a payment, you are taken to the payment processor's secure website to complete the transaction. Your full credit card details are collected and processed securely by the payment processor and are not collected, transmitted, or stored on our website or servers. By submitting payment information through our designated processor, you authorize the applicable charge and agree to be bound by that processor's terms of service and privacy policy.

Invoices not paid by the due date may be subject to late fees or interest as permitted by law. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate services in the event of non-payment.

6. Installations, Equipment, and Monitoring

We will use reasonable care and skill in providing installation and related services. However, proper performance of any security system also depends on factors beyond our control, including property conditions, network connectivity, power supply, and how the system is used and maintained.

  • Equipment ownership: Unless otherwise specified, installed equipment becomes your property once fully paid for.
  • Monitoring services: Where monitoring is provided, it may be delivered in whole or in part by third-party monitoring partners under their own terms and conditions.
  • System limitations: No security system can guarantee prevention of loss, theft, damage, or unauthorized access. Systems are designed to reduce risk, not eliminate it.

7. Warranties

Any warranty applicable to equipment or workmanship will be specified in your quote, invoice, or service agreement. Manufacturer warranties may apply to certain products, and our own workmanship warranty may apply for a limited period, subject to proper use and maintenance.

Warranties generally do not cover damage caused by misuse, neglect, unauthorized modifications, environmental events (such as storms, flooding, or power surges), or interference by third parties.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, RedFlag Security and its owners, employees, and contractors will not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, business, or goodwill
  • Any loss or damage arising from burglary, theft, vandalism, fire, flood, or other events, even if a security system is installed or monitored

Our total liability for any claim related to our website, services, or equipment will be limited to the amount you paid for the specific service or equipment at issue, except where a different limitation is required by law.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless RedFlag Security and its owners, employees, and contractors from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:

  • Your breach of these Terms
  • Your misuse of our website, services, or installed systems
  • Your violation of any law or third-party rights in connection with your use of our services

10. Privacy

Our collection, use, and disclosure of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using our website or services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood our Privacy Policy.

11. Intellectual Property

We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of these third parties, and your use of their services is at your own risk and subject to their terms and policies.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, services, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of our website or services after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to our website or services at any time, without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in unlawful or harmful conduct, or if necessary to protect our rights, property, or the safety of others.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario, Canada, for the resolution of any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of our website or services.
